Today was a tough one....and by tough I mean crushing. I had my mind and heart set on this piece that would fill that constant need to prove Indeserve my position and my promotion....but what I got, was an unrulely punch to the gut.
Through this I've learned: you can't look for validation in other people or projects, only you can determine your own happiness.
So choose to be happy. Believe in yourself. Don't wait and hope someone will lift you up, build your own stairway and find your place in the world...if you do that and know in your heart that you were the reason that you've made it to where you were destined to be, then no one can shake you, no one can break the iron rod stairwell that has led you to your decree.
So tonight after I let a few tears run down my cheek-- I tossed back my glass of wine and realized tomorrow is another day in the land of opportunity and I can choose to forget everything and run or face everything and RISE.
The world moves at 1000 miles per hour, do you know how fast you have to run just to try and keep up....
I choose to rise and to run, the world will keep on turning, the money will continue to print, and I will keep my head held high and work hard every day for the unremitting win!
"if you feel safe in the area that you're working in, you're not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you're capable of being in. When you go a little bit out of your depth and when you don't feel that you're feet are quite touching the bottom, you're just about in the right place to do something exciting" -david bowie
Today's look was inspired by a true artist--both inspiring in his wisdom and his music----and maybe this swing tee too. I felt a bit all over the place while trying to get my feet back on the ground in between my bk trips, and so my outfit pretty much reflected that. Party pants-aka beaded shorts--casual band tank--peep toe booties and of course every great rockstar needs their shades! haha Hope you guys had a great weekend...tomorrow I head back down to florida and the pretty gulf coast.

My BK world wide tour continues, this week it brought me back to where it all began....The Omni Amelia Island Plantation. This humble abode is nestled just south of Jacksonville FL and is probably one of my favorite places to visit, this may be partly due to the fact that at this hotel, I had my first opportunity to try my hand in the sales world. I started at HyperActive in the middle of May 2015, as a marketing coordinator, one of my responsibilities was to assist the sales team with organizing the trade shows (not in the sense of attendance but what and who needed to be there).
I worked there for about three weeks when I heard of a regional Burger King show being held at this beautiful resort in Amelia Island, I gasped at the pictures and although my boss shut down idea of me attending pretty quickly, these show were usually only attended by sales guys because it was the perfect opportunity to meet franchisees and hopefully sell something....those who know if I set my heart/mind on something and I know I have to have it--I won't stop until I do...and I really wanted to go!
So after A little persuading, maybe some begging, and a list created with reasons why I should go...my boss finally caved....
It was a great experience I learned a lot, I met some great people, I stayed in a beautiful resort, and most importantly I was one of the first people to ever sell anything at a Tradeshow! Kind of crazy right but seriously exhilarating!
Anyway this year I made it back to Amelia with a new perspective...last Friday I was promoted to the executive brand manager for Burger King (also known as "the Burger King Queen" as proclaimed by my Bk peeps) haha
People constantly tell me how lucky I am and how they want my job and the chance to travel. They constantly ask me how I got this job--- and I can honestly say luck had nothing to do with it. I worked my butt off each and every day. I never stopped chasing what I wanted. I am still chasing it and it's not always easy but Life is not supposed to be easy, life is supposed to be great!
If you want greatness, then demand it, chase it--don't sit back and hope that one day something great will happen to you...make it happen for yourself. When you do that, you will make your own luck and you will live in this oasis I like to refer to as Amelia....
So this year, when coming back to the place where I discovered a love for sales, I come back with a sense of pride...I saw what I wanted, I ran after it full force, and I found myself--I got exactly what I wanted because I worked hard for it and boy does that feel good!
Today was the first of many travel day's to come, with this comes a lot of packing days and a lot of napping in a tiny chair days! Today I flew to Salt Lake City Utah, it is my first time in this mountaines state, and I must say it is GORGEOUS!
My 45 minute uber ride from the airport to my hotel in Park City was filled with beautiful hillsides and luscious greenery, and although it was a hundred degrees today and I opted for a spot by the pool rather than a day of exploration, I do plan on finding out the other aspects that make this city special!
Today's outfit is inspired from my standard travel schedule, you want to be comfortable and wear removable layers (planes are always a gamble when it comes to temperature) you also want to look somewhat put together in case you run into a client or you need to run to a booth set up, another piece that probably stands out and contradicts my comfort theory would be my 6 inch wedges (although these are very comfortable) they are very heavy-and are my go to shows--if you are an overpacked like me, you are very aware of that 50lbs rule and so you try to maneuver your heavier items to a place that is not being weighed. My advice, wear your heavy stable shoes (or store in carry on) but Romberg to bring flip flops (or socks) for plane/if layover is in large airport.
After a day travel and a little sun, I was pretty exhausted and figured it would be to my benefit to enjoy a down night, before the Bk borganza begins!
To which I popped on my favorite pizza boxers, poured some wine, and enjoyed a little cruel intentions!! Only downside was that I was having a great hair day, and my iPhone was the only one here to witness it! Boo!
But who doesn't enjoy a night in, with a comfy bed, and a classic chic flick?! (Sorry for the fuzzy photos lack of over head lighting kills me!)
I don't mean to continue to gush about how lucky I am in every posts, but I just want to quickly express my gratitude. Yesterday, I officially launched my blog and shared city streets and fashion weeks with the world. Prior to releasing the blog, I honestly was really nervous, and seriously considered calling the whole thing off. This blog, exposed the real me and left me in a very vulnerable state-I was worried how people would react but much to my surprise, I was met with such love and admiration by everyone around me--past and present! It was truly such an amazing experience. I am so beyond appreciative and I just want to say Thank you!!!
Today's post is inspired by natural beauty, both in people and in our surroundings. About a month ago I flew out to California to celebrate my best friend's wedding. While there, I was able to also squeeze in some much needed family time and a little exploratory adventure.
My mom and little brother are very active people and live to work out, i on the other hand, totally lack this passion--but what we do share is a sense of adventure! Although I did not pack my Nike's I did pack these super cute overalls and so I made this outfit work for our hike! They were comfy and functional--although they did not ward of snakes--they did suffice for a 7 mile hike in the mountains of San Diego!

My boss just gave me a really informative perspective, "A year of sitting in a chair and discovering what you were born to do, is well worth the price!"
I occasionally forget to be grateful for the truly amazing opportunities I have been offered over this last year.
Prior to this position, I was lost in the world: I knew I did not want to be in the retail or broadcasting field but I was completely unaware of what I truly wanted to do.
I interviewed for an inside sales position (for which I knew I would hate), halfway through my interview I was offered an opportunity as a marketing coordinator (which was exactly what I thought I wanted-at the time), after two months I was offered an opportunity to attend a trade show (which was not in my job description but I so desperately wanted to attend), from there I discovered a gift--I love sales! I am good at sales! This was what I was meant to do!
My days aren't always ideal, they are a lot of hard work, but I am one of the few people who discovered who they were meant to be. One of the few who empowers a strong passion for what they do every day, and one of the very few who actually get to do it with the encouragement and direction from an amazing team!!
It is very rewarding to know my struggle and hard work has led me to this place, to which I cannot be anything but grateful!
This week, as we enjoy a day off celebrating with BBQ's and fireworks, take the time to reflect on how lucky we are to be apart of this great nation and have the opportunities that we do!
"America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand."--Harry S Truman.
Last night Roberto and I went out for some much needed Margaritas, at a local Mexican Resturant in Pittsburgh. It was a gorgeous night, just chilly enough to throw on this light knit sweater and maxi. This was a super comfy outfit, made up of some of my summer staples.
I can not get enough of these silky maxi's, I've already purchased four over the last month (whoops). BCBG is promoting summer whites as this season's must have hue, and I for one am all about it. A combination of great neutrals provides a very chic and classic look, not to mention that it will make you're newly bronzed skin POP! Just be careful while drinking that strawberry margarita--one false move and that pretty silk knit could end up a tie dyed rag!
